If the want us to challenge for European places, you have to spend European money (£100 mill +).

We will no doubt do things on the cheap yet again! With this current board, I can never get excited!

Standard says Defoe wants 6m sign on and a 100 bags, agent wants 1m.

Zabaleta and Defoe will be our marquee signings with a few loans thrown in. That's where my expectation lies.

Keeping records of posters past posts from months previous could be construed as compulsive stalking? You may have a problem with your psychomotor skills or the early onset of mental illness, don't dismiss it, they say wonderful things can be achieved if you get things treated early.

The most worrying thing about this if it were even remotely reliable is that Sakho isn't on the out list. And Ayew for that matter.

If it's not been mentioned already this is a blog piece not written by Hugh with none of their usual quotes from the club. It's just a round-up of players who might arrive or leave based on the speculation. Nothing to do with being a 'mouthpiece for the club' at all imo.

Hypothetically obviously, but would you rather have signed a couple of those players mentioned geoff, or blown all the money on wages and fees on the absolute dogs breakfast of crap we signed last summer?

We can't* afford £168m, that's for sure! (even though that's a made-up figure, like the rest of this "report"). Or £150m. Or £125m. Or probably even £100m. Not with the wages those sorts of players also bring.

Unless our sales are utterly miraculous.

* I use the word "can't" realistically. I mean, it will not happen. Fantasy football games are available.

Sounds like Beardy is trying to manage expectations. They simply can't/won't invest the cash needed.

I foresee the striker from Chelsea signing and the rest will be free like Zabaleta or loans. Net spend will be about £35m and another season of mediocrity awaits.

You don't think we can afford to spend more money than we do geoff?

Defoe should pay us if he wants to join next season.

Re: WHUFC will sign one marquee signing (striker?) and the rest loans and freebies.
Someone like Zabaleta at right back is really the only older player I'd like to see. That's for two reasons. Firstly, if we have a top, top right back, Bilic will effectively be forced to play him. And secondly, Byram's supposedly waiting in the wings. If we get a younger right back then Byram will have every reason to ask whether he still has a future at the club.

For the rest of the squad, I'd like to see us invest in younger players.

Think about this. What are our actual aims as a club right now? We're a million miles away from Champions League. We can't even cope with the Europa League. On the other hand, we spend so much money now that I doubt we'll face relegation again for a long time.

So, why are we concentrating on short-term options? We should be concentrating on long term options. That is, young players with a lot of potential who won't each their peak as players for a number of years.

So why not, instead of buying crocks, we try to find the NEXT Wilshere and Sturridge?

Fuck it! I'm jacking off the begining of the season.

This is unbearable, already and this season hasn't even ended, yet.

Someone wake me up on 1st September.

If anything the headline is right and the rest of it is spelling out to fans that expectations can't be afforded.

But it's generally a load of Claret & Hugh waffle this one.
